How far apart should a semidwarf pear tree and a semiwdwarf apple tree be planted?

If they're too close will I get some new exotic fruit?

They will cross pollinate, but you will not get strange fruit. Five feet is way too close, even for dwarf trees. I wouldn't plant them closer than 20-25 feet to each other. Look at the tag on the tree. It will tell you how big the tree should get. If it gets 20 feet wide, that's 10 feet on each side of the trunk. Add a few feet to walk between them and allow plenty of sunlight to get through.

Be sure to spray in the spring.
Reply:They should be planted at least 5 feet apart.
