are there any stores aroung seattle, washington where i can find seeds for any of these trees?
What trees are most suitable to grow in seattle, washington weather?cherry, apple, or pear?
seattle---------Doug Fir-----Pines-------apple and cherry require a different climate found on the eastern side of the mountains -----more arid.
Reply:Seach Google for you Hardiness Zone - from there you should be able to find trees/plants that are native to your area and what will work best for you. I'm from South Florida - so my zone is 10b. http://www.backyardgardener.com/zone/ Also, check out your local public library - they'll have some good references for you.
Goodluck!
Reply:Being a native of Seattle, WA...I would have to say that apples, cherries, and pears grow reasonably well in the western WA weather. Your best bet would be to research nurseries around seattle and in some outlying areas and they will be able to suggest the proper strains of each to grow in the wet western WA weather.
My parents have all 3 types in their yard, and have had good luck with them...and they live in Burien. So, you can give it a shot.
Reply:Got my dwarf apple from Costco, not as a seed; it came in a pot. Go to a Fred Meyers, they have a nursery dept., or Molbaks in Woodinville. There should be a few nurseries in the Redmond, Woodinville, Fall City, eastside area you can go to for trees suitable for Seattle.
