What's wrong with our pear trees?

We have two mature pear trees in our yard which have always been prolific fruit bearers. This year, the leaves are covered in orange spots that have raised dark brown spots in the middles. We have no pears at all (we had a number of blooms in the spring, and we had a few immature pears, but they didn't survive) and now the trees are losing their leaves.

What's going on and what can we do about it?

Reply:Weather and temp..too much rain or not enough...........an early chill.....
Reply:This sounds like some kind of fungus. Check with your local government agricultural office for advice. Make sure you keep the area under the trees clear of weeds and debris from the garden. When you prune in the winter time, get the trimmings out of the area.

Also, in some areas there weren't very many bees this year, so a lot of the blossoms were not pollinated.
Reply:They are dying , and there's really nothing you can do about it ... A shame .... I believe it's called " fire Blight " , as the trees look like they have been singed by fire as they die ...

Plan on replacing them ; I 'd suggest Asian Pears . They are very resistant to the blight , and have few or no pests .... and they are really very goo . ( Check a type called 20th Century Pear ; just Google it )
