How do I kill hundreds of small prickly pear-like cactus? We have too many in the yard to remove it by hand.?

I found this info, but I'm not sure how reliable it is.

Q: Do you have a suggestion on how to kill prickly pear cactus?

A: Scrape the pears into a big pile and add dry molasses. You will have created one of the best composts. To prevent them from growing back, improve the soil with humate, compost, molasses and organic fertilizers

(make sure you don't break bits off and leave them lying there - they WILL re-grow)

And this :

Just give some water softener salt a try on a test patch....if it kills the cactus then you can kill it all and then flush it out and regrow grass.

If it is truly prickly pear, then there are biological controls for it. The Cactoblastis (moth/beetle/grub?) is a predator of Prickly Pear. Maybe this natural solution might be the best way. Not sure how long it takes. Good luck with your prickly problem.
Reply:When dealing with Cactus they are just as threatening dead or alive. You could spray Round-up which kills every plant it comes in contact with. Once the cacti is dead it still has its thorns. I recommend patiently digging them up. It might take a while but that is the only option.
Reply:Herbicide named ROUNDUP
Reply:did you know you can drink this catus with apple juice

apart from that burn it............
