Bradford Pear doesn't need a mate to flower.

As suggested it could still be young. Or if you have had particularly dry weather or frosty weather the buds could have been ruined.

I'd water well and fertilize and see what happens if it isn't a young tree and this goes on for a few more years. I would be tempted to replace it. It may have a particularly bad gene pool, or Bradford may flower in your area to early and the flower buds keep getting frosted and a later variety may be better. Botanical name pyrus calleryana 'Bradford' if you want to check it out further.

I'm in a very hot dry area and my ornament pears flower well with regular garden water so I don't think chill factor is a problem.
Reply:you did not say where you are,, but pear trees need a certain number of cold hours!! that is so many days of cold weather to tell the tree that it has gone thru winter and can now produce fruit!! down here in louisiana we are getting fewer cold days every year and many fruit trees will not produce!!
Reply:Not to flower, just to produce fruit. The flowers are the reproductive organs of the plant. In fact, pollen is just plant sperm basically. Just like animals though, it does have to reach a certain age and maturity to be able to reproduce.
Reply:Hope this helps

Reply:I'd be curious to know how tall it is? They're all over the place here in NC and they bloom just fine--but I think they have to be a certain size and age to bloom.
