I have five old and dying apple and pear trees,do i need permission to remove them?

Do you live on land that is not yours? or Are the trees protected somehow (as historically significant or something?) Are they too close to power lines or phone lines? Are the roots near water pipe or underground wires? Would they fall on to someone else's land once they are felled?



If you think you are in the clear of all of these things; then you should be ok to remove them. Otherwise talk to power company water company telephone company and neighbor about your intentions and see what each says they'd like you to do to mitigate damages.

If the land is yours, you can cut them down. If it is on the city property would need their permission to cut them down. All cities and villages have different codes cutting down trees.



Remember to call the power companies to determine where the lines are in the ground.

Reply:If you are the owner (not renter) of the property, I cannot see why you would need permission.
Reply:I'd be careful, some local councils will want to check out the trees first before you can get permission. Otherwise if the trees are on your property and not in party/shared land, it shouldnt be a problem.
