How do you make pear jelly? my pear tree is full?
Hi

Go to you local supermarket or walmart and pick up some Pectin. It comes under the brand name Sure Jell and Certo. it can be either the granular or liquid kind. In rural areas, this is easy to find in the canning or preserving section. In cities it can be tough to get. I have to buy it every year for my realtives from NYC because the stores where they live don't carry it.

Both Certo and Sure Jell come with a recipe book for making jelly from all kinds of fruit. For pear, it says you need 4 cups finely chopped pears, 2 Tbs lemon juice, 5 Cups sugar, and one pack pectin. Boil the pears and sugar, add lemon, Bring to full boil, add pectin, full boil again 1 minute. This will make 6 cups. You can can it in ball/mason jars and store for 6 months or you can refrigerate.

We've made pear jelly before and it is good (anything is good w/ 6 cups sugar). But it is a nice unique gift - like peach, plum, apple, etc because most people are used to just grape and strawberry jelly from the stores.

Good luck
Reply:I don't know about jelly, but the website below has a recipe for pear preserves. I couldn't find anything else.and I don't know why. Hope this helps. good luck!
