Making pear wine do I need to peel the pears or leave the skin on?

Your first step in making pear wine is to crush the pears, and press them with a cider mill in order to get the juice.

There's no reason to peel them. You don't peel apples before you press them for cider, either.

Peel them, poach them in the red wine.

Before to put them in the wine you have to prepare wine with sugar, ground black pepper ( not crushed), muscade nut and cinnamon

Put them in the red wine during 20 to 30 min, wine not boiling.

Enjoy
Reply:chop them into quaters %26amp; leave the skins on( this will add to the flavour %26amp; colour) removing the skins will result in a watery %26amp; flavourless wine.it isn't necessary to remove the seeds either, presuming you seive the "mash"( which is highly reccomended).don't add pectin either (this is for "setting/solidifying "- like making jam!

good luck!!!
Reply:Dont wash them, the dust on them if they were picked fresh is part of what gives the different bottles of wine their distinct flavor. Quarter them and them crush tem to get the juice. you dont need pectin. No peeling neccesary. thomas d he wants to make pear wine not cook them in wine!!!!!
Reply:I say NO,,, but you need to grind them up and press all the juice out.. I did cider

Reply:I would peel them, but I don't think you need pectin for wine; that would be for preserves (jam).
Reply:peel them and chop them up you will also need pectin
