My young pear tree has developed a slime like substance on the bark. How can I get it healthy again?

Is the slime oozing from a wound? Does it cover the entire bark? Or just in patches? What color is it? Is it thick or thin? Gelatinous?

Take a picture, or snip an affected branch, and take it to a good local nursery, or your county exetension office. THey may be able to help with the diagnosis.

And once you know waht's wrong, you can see what treatments may be available.
