Does anyone know how to treat blight in a flowering pear tree? Our tree-trimmers charge $500 to treat it!?

The tree dropped its leaves after they developed black spots, and the diagnosis was "blight." We don't want to lose it, but would like to try and treat it ourselves at a more reasonable cost!

Thank you!

Are you sure it just didn't get caught in a cold snap after the 80 degree weather? That is what happened in our area.Lots of trees with dead leaves. But I think they will come back when it gets warm again.

...................flowering pear trees..........

When it was first introduced

this variety was thought to be resistant to fireblight but it

is now thought to be one of the very worst.

.........................................

Callery pears are being dropped from the list of accepted

trees for street, park, and municipal plantings because

of their countless problems. Be sure you replace this loss

with a completely different flowering tree if longevity is

one of your goals.

**************************************...

.........How old is the tree?.............

They have a life span of 10 to 15 years

in the typical commercial landscape. 20 if they are babied

in someone's yard. How many do you have?************* In most situations

*****treating this particular plant for **********this particular disease

***************is NOT successful and %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;not worth it.

Decide how old the tree is after reading this it may not be worth it.......

after so many years mine lasted 13 years lost { ***4***} in '06.

I'll never buy any more Bradford or Cleveland flowering pears again....

I waited for the sales and planted Pin Oak.
Reply:Try Neem Oil, I know of one kind that should be available at places like Home Depot, called Neem Away.

Organic gardeners use it for alot of common garden problems, including Blight and nematoads.
