Is it okay to feed a 3 month old baby pear juice if she refuses a bottles in the afternoon and evening?
I know the comment was funny, but it's sad that "well if she's okay, then I guess so" was chosen as the best by the voters. I seriously hope this mom knew better and contacted her baby's pediatrician. Report It
Reply:No. Juice has absolutely no nutritional value. It is not a substitute for formula/breastmilk.

She could just be refusing the bottle because she doesn't want it then. If she's flat out not taking anything, take her in to see the doctor.
Reply:Babies can have juice. apple, pear..no sugar added, like juicy juice. Mix it half and half with water but don't use it as a substitute for her breastmilk or formula. She needs the nutrition. Ask your pediatrician for some advice.
Reply:No if she is refusing to take her bottles then you need to call her peditrician right away b/c there could be something possibly wrong with her or she may need to have her formula switch... My son had to be switch to soy when he was about 3 weeks out b/c he would have a bowel movement for like 4 days at a time... Anyways, you shouldn't give a baby any kind of juice until they're at least 6 months old it's not good for they're system it could possibly cause health effects later on in life.
Reply:its recommended that you give juice at 4 months and no sooner
Reply:No juice has to much sugar for babies. They only reccomend pear juice mixed w/water if constipated. She will eat when she is hungry she may not want a bottle then,if shes not eating for longer than 4 hours take her to the doctor.
Reply:No it's not okay...babies need breastmilk or formula as their main source of nutrition...skipping those feedings and replacing them with juice is depriving and not healthy at all...speak to a doctor about trying a different kind of formula.
Reply:No, this is not okay. In fact, it's not even okay to give a baby this age water, because it can dilute the essential nutrients in their system and make them sick. They should receive formula or breastmilk as their sole source of nutrition. Juice can also cause diarrhea.

Juice should not be introduced until at least 6 months, and at that point should only be 100% juice, potentially diluted with water.

Please call your doctor to get their advice on how to handle your baby's refusal.
Reply:Give her a fish stick to gum on.
Reply:OK I have a 3 month old son and I give him one bottle of juice a day but I add 2 ounces of water for every ounce of juice. Juice will not fill your child up though it is like if you were hungry and you had a few cookies that is how it is with juice it is just a snack. If your child will not take the bottle and you have tried everything you need to call your paediatrician and let them know. However it is ok to give your child juice just dilute it and make sure she has her bottle also or is getting her nutrient's.
Reply:I don't think its a good idea to substitute juice for formula or breastmilk...your baby needs so many ounces of formula/breastmilk a day so they grow healthy and strong. I would recommend calling your pediatrician if your baby is refusing to eat. Good Luck!
Reply:i dont think u can give her any juice till she reaches 4 month old. i would ask her doctor before cause juice has alot of suger that will cause the baby to be diabetic if u gave it to him very early.
Reply:Certainly not! Pear juice (any juice, really) is nothing more than sugar water, and there is no nutrition whatsoever in it. Most juice manufacturers add vitamin C to juice to make it seem healthy so people will keep buying it. What you're buying is empty calories.

Formula and breastmilk are nutrious and are crucial to her development. At this point, it should be her only source of nutrition, and it's important that she get enough.

You should find out why she's not taking a bottle in the afternoon or evening. Does she drink a lot during the day, so she's not hungry in the evening? Did she recently have a bottle?

Not all babies drink the same amount of formula. If the average is 18 - 30 ounces of formula per day, maybe your baby is on the lower end of the requirement scale, so she's not as hungry as other babies her age. (I used those numbers only as an example...I'm really not sure what the requirement is for a 3 month old baby.)
Reply:add water with it.
