Non flowering pear tree?

I planted a non flowering pear tree a year and a half ago, it started out beautifully this spring, but the leaves get red and dry on the tips, and something is eating at it...any suggestions on how to care for this poor little skinny tree???

Prune off one of the short limbs that has the problem on it, and take it to your County extension office or to a Master Gardener thru the University program for your county. They love to diagnose integrated pests! They can also give you suggestions on what to do.

Just as a heads up, many cultivars of pear trees are highly susceptible to fire blight. It will kill the tree.
