tree still bares very well.
I have a pear tree that has holes in the the trunk from ants, Can anyone tell me what I can use to fill them?
You can do either of two things:
One - if the hole(s) is huge, you can pour concrete into the hole. Pop and I did this to one of the mango trees that he and my mom have growing in the front of their house. It's still alive, and this happened more than TEN years ago. This was a HUGE hole in the tree too. The hole would fill with water during a rain storm and provide a habitat for mosquitos. Bleh! The tree is old and rather static in its growth where it had this hole. Your tree will grow around the concrete as it ages, nonetheless.
On the other hand, if the hole is small, you can try using some wood putty to close the holes, and you can get this at ANY hardware store. If you can't find it, just ask a sales associate for some wood putty.
Reply:idk
Reply:you can't "fill" a tree trunk. either get rid of the ants, or leave it alone if it's healthy.
Reply:I have a pecan tree that had ants in it. I dumped in some white roach powder. It seems to work. They are gone.
