Anybody know how long it takes to produce pears on a pear tree? the maturity of the tree is about 3 years old,

the tree when fully matured is supposed to get to 35- 40 feet tall, right now it is about 10- 12 feet. so I just wanted to know when to expect some fruit on it. Thanks.

Natural pear trees bear in 5 to 7 years. Dwarfs in 2 to 3.

In the first year of extensive blossom, I have found it useful to knock all of the fruit off, except for one or two.(we need quality control, and how do we do that without something to sample, or eat)

You also need a different variety to pollinate. Pears are not self-pollinating, although you might get some fruit. If no other pear nearby, cut a branch off a wild pear, or a neighbor's pear(with their permission, of course) and tie it to the pear you want to bear fruit.

You can also, with dwarf trees, use a feather duster on a pear anywhere, bring it home, and dust all the pear flowers on your tree. You will have literally millions of pollen particles on the feather duster, and it only takes one to start a pear fruit. I did this in my orchard a lot during the early years. Darn bees are undependable. If it is too cold, they go on strike. If it is too hot, they go on strike. and so on.....

Good luck.
