Can anyone help tell me what a pear patina is supposed to look like when done? Liquidy or spongey like cake?

im making it for a class and im not sure what its supposed to turn out like.
Can anyone help tell me what a pear patina is supposed to look like when done? Liquidy or spongey like cake?
The one I tried had a consistency somewhat like a quiche.

This recipe calls it custard.
