Cleveland pear tree not blooming yet. What's wrong?

I planted 2 cleveland pear trees last summer here in north florida, seemed to do ok. Leaves took a long time to finally drop (January 2008) in fact one tree still has some leaves from last seaon on it. Both trees have plenty of buds but no flowers or leaves yet. Is there a problem or do they take longer to bloom than other trees in this area?

It should be ok; we have a pear tree and it only blooms every other year. If the other leaves from last season are dead, then take them off. Just keep doing what you are doing and it should be ok! Hope this helps and good luck!
