Where is Pear Mail installed on linux?

I have installed PEAR mail by typing "pear install mail" it is installed but I need to change the smtp port in SMTP.php which is part of the Net_SMTP package and I do not know where they are to edit them. I tried to look in usr/share/pear....this had a smtp.php file and I changed the parameter but apparently it is not the right file bacause it is still trying to connect to the wrong port. any help?
Where is Pear Mail installed on linux?
If pear runs as a service, make sure you restart it. check in /etc/init.d if pear is listed try /etc/init.d/restart

I know apache drove me crazy a few times because I forgot to restart it after making a change

edit: after looking into it, I think you have to restart your webserver for the change to be made.

try /etc/init.d/httpd restart

or /sbin/service httpd restart

(as root of course)
