The Son of Man, 1964

Rene Magritte

By the way, it's an apple.
What is the name of the painting that has a pear in front of a man's face?
There is a painting by Giuseppe Arcimboldi (also spelled Archimboldi or Archimboldo) of a man made up of fruit and vegetables and the man has a pear for a nose. It is known as "Vertemnus" and is presently in a museum in Stockholm. See link below for a picture of this painting.

I hope this is the painting you were thinking of. The artist also has some other portraits of men composed of vegetables and they too are at this link.
